Ms. Madigan has been practicing law for over 20 years. As a Certified Family Law Specialist, Ms. Madigan is among a distinguished group of recognized experts in California. She litigates some of the most complex family law matters both in public court and with private judges at all stages of litigation, including trial. Her practice focuses on complex and high-asset divorce, property characterization and division, child and spousal support proceedings, high-conflict custody disputes, including relocation cases and cases involving resist-refuse dynamics, parentage (paternity) cases, domestic violence cases, and post-judgment proceedings. She also drafts prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She is trained in both mediation and collaborative divorce and is highly skilled at negotiating settlements in and out of court.

Family Law Leader
Ms. Madigan is an active and long-standing member of the local family law community in San Mateo County. From 2015-2016, she served as the Chair of the Family Law Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association (SMCBA), serving as a liaison between the Family Law Section’s members and the Judiciary of the San Mateo County Superior Court. In San Mateo County, she regularly volunteers in Department 15 to assist self-represented litigants, many of whom are unable to afford legal representation. In addition, she has served as a volunteer attorney, presiding over settlement conferences in Santa Clara County Superior Court.
Ms. Madigan is also active at the state level and serves on the board of directors of Collaborative Practice of California (“CP Cal”), the statewide organization of collaborative practice groups. In 2021-2022, she served as the President of CP Cal. She is a proud recipient of the Eureka award, which recognizes those who have made significant contributions to collaborative practice in California.
Background
Prior to moving to California in 2005, Ms. Madigan worked as a civil litigator at the law firm of Alexander, Holburn, Beaudin, & Lang, LLP in Vancouver, Canada, ranked by Canadian Lawyer magazine as one of the top ten regional firms in Western Canada.
What distinguishes Ms. Madigan is her big-picture approach to cases and skill in guiding clients through what is often one of life’s most challenging yet transformative experiences. Throughout her career, she has supported countless individuals, and families navigate their cases to a conclusion across a wide range of divorce process options, including public courtrooms, private judging, mediation, and collaborative divorce.
Ms. Madigan has resided on the Peninsula for many years now and is a proud mother to her teenage daughter.
